Care guide

Aluminium garden gates with a powder-coated finish offer durability and resistance to corrosion, but proper care is essential to maintain their appearance and longevity. Follow these guidelines to keep your gate looking its best:

Regular Cleaning: Wipe down your gate with a soft cloth or sponge and mild detergent solution regularly to remove dust, dirt, and other debris. Rinse thoroughly with clean water afterward.

Avoid Abrasive Cleaners: Refrain from using abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or harsh chemicals on the powder-coated surface, as they can scratch or damage the finish.

Inspect for Damage: Periodically inspect your gate for any signs of damage, such as scratches, chips, or fading. Address any issues promptly to prevent further deterioration.

Touch-Up Paint: If you notice any minor scratches or chips in the powder-coated finish, use touch-up paint specifically designed for metal surfaces to conceal the damage and prevent corrosion.

Protect from Harsh Elements: Aluminium garden gates with a powder-coated finish offer exceptional protection against extreme weather conditions and saltwater environments. The powder-coated finish acts as a barrier, shielding the gate from moisture, UV radiation, and corrosive elements present in harsh environments. By choosing an aluminium garden gate with a powder-coated finish, you can enjoy peace of mind knowing that your gate is well-equipped to withstand the rigours of outdoor exposure while maintaining its appearance and functionality for years to come.

Avoid Abrasive Contact: Be cautious when placing or moving objects near your gate to avoid scratching or damaging the powder-coated surface.

By following these care instructions, you can preserve the beauty and integrity of your aluminium garden gate with a powder-coated finish for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions.

Can the gates be hung left or right-handed?

Yes, our gates are designed to be universal, allowing for flexibility in hanging direction. There are no specific left or right-handed gates. To hang the gate in the desired direction, please follow these steps:

  1. Turn the Handle: The handle on the gate can be turned 180 degrees to face the correct way. This adjustment will ensure that the handle operates in the direction you prefer.
  2. Lock Keep Receiver: Similarly, the lock keep receiver should be turned 180 degrees to align with the handle, ensuring proper locking and unlocking.
  3. Latch Adjustment: To change the direction of the latch, avoid unscrewing the locking mechanism. Instead, press the release catch on the mechanism to release and turn the latch 180 degrees.

These adjustments can be made during the installation process to ensure that the gate opens and closes in the direction that best suits your needs. For detailed step-by-step instructions and visual aids, please refer to the fitting instructions available on the product page.

Can I fit a combination lock to the gates?

The standard lock supplied with our garden gates is a handle set with keys, featuring a standard euro cylinder with a length of 70mm and a 50/50 split. While this lock provides secure and reliable functionality, it is designed for use with keys.

Unfortunately, our gates are not configured to accommodate combination locks as standard.

Can I use two garden gates as a pair?

While using two garden gates together may seem like an option for creating a double opening pair, this is not possible. We recommend a more suitable solution for side entrances.

The best way to achieve a double opening pair of gates for your side entrance is by customising a set of driveway gates. This allows us to modify the widths to any size you require, ensuring a perfect fit for your specific opening. Custom driveway gates are designed for this purpose and provide a cohesive and functional solution for side entrances.

Customisation offers the advantage of tailoring the gates precisely to your needs, ensuring they complement your property's aesthetic while delivering the desired functionality.

What thickness are the garden gates?

Our garden gates have a standard thickness of 45mm, providing a sturdy and secure structure for your property.

To access detailed dimensions and specifications for each gate model, we recommend visiting the product page on our website. On each product page, you will find a downloadable PDF dimension drawing that provides comprehensive information about the gate's size, shape, and other important measurements. These dimension drawings are invaluable for ensuring that the gate will fit your specific installation requirements.

Here's how to find the dimension drawing:

  1. Navigate to the Product Page: Go to the product page of the gate you are interested in.
  2. Locate the Dimension Drawing: Look for the 'Dimension Drawing' section, usually found below the product description. Click on the link to open or download the PDF file.

I have an opening wider than your widest standard garden gate size?

If your gate opening exceeds our widest standard gate size of 1200mm, and adding posts would not adequately fulfill your requirements, we have a solution for you. We can arrange for factory-ordered gates to be customised to the exact width you need.

To initiate the process for factory-ordered gates, please click here to access our custom order request form. This form will allow you to provide us with the specific dimensions and details of your gate requirements. Once we receive your request, our team will work closely with you to ensure that the gates are tailored to your precise needs.

What are the floor-mounted hinges used for?

Floor-mounted hinges are used for two purposes. Firstly, they are used when using aluminium posts as a support for the gate. Secondly, they are used when you prefer to distribute the weight of the gate onto the floor rather than solely relying on the wall for support.
